1. Remember: Sleep is the primary element of health preservation. The ideal sleeping time should be from 9:00 PM to 3:00 AM. This period corresponds to winter within a day, when the primary storage phase occurs. Failing to store during winter leads to exhaustion the next day.
2. All medications, whether from traditional Chinese or Western medicine, treat symptoms rather than addressing the root cause of illness. Every illness stems from incorrect causes producing incorrect results. Without addressing these incorrect causes, the incorrect results persist. The root of health lies in the mind; all methods stem from the mind. A pure mind results in a pure body. Therefore, when ill, don’t seek external remedies; rely on your body’s own repair systems to heal. In reality, humans are no different from animals; animals heal themselves, and humans can too.
3. Correct beliefs are more effective in eliminating diseases than expensive medications or risky surgeries. With correct beliefs, you make the right decisions and take the right actions, thereby preventing many diseases.
4. All human wisdom does not come from books but from one’s own sincere and pure heart (the bodhi mind spoken of in Buddhism), cultivated through meditation.
5. Humans possess the most perfectly structured spiritual bodies among all living beings, with a healthy body inherent at birth. Regulating human health depends on the body’s own repair systems and not external factors; external factors only play a supporting role.
6. Many human illnesses manifest as the body adjusts and clears waste, demonstrating the body’s self-regulating balance. Therefore, these phenomena should be regarded as normal physiological processes rather than diseases to be eliminated.
7. Human health depends on two major factors: sufficient qi and blood circulation and clear meridians (including blood vessels and channels for waste removal).
8. Sufficient qi and blood depend on adequate food intake, bile, and quality sleep within specific hours (from dusk until around 1:40 AM, when the brain is inactive and the parasympathetic nervous system dominates), along with good lifestyle habits.
9. Clear meridians require a pure heart. All seven emotions and six desires can disrupt a pure heart, thereby impairing normal meridian function.
10. Maintaining a healthy body not only requires increasing qi and blood but also reducing their consumption.
